Are you what you Read?

I love reading. My first book that I can remember was a gift from my mother - "The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. It was my 6th birthday. The book was an Abridged Classical tale, made for young readers. I was hooked from the first page! Since then, I have read and accumulated many books from many genres.

But lately, reading has not been easy. Or so I thought. With social media bombarding us with small snippets, even telling us how long it will take to read the article, you can't help but wonder, how hard is it to really read something? Our attention span is only as long as the next commercial. Now you have audio books and condensed e-books that give you the main points of a book in a matter of minutes! sounds good, right? Wrong!

Nothing beats a good read, from a book you hold in your hands, flipping the pages, the smell of print and paper - almost intoxicating. A chance to hold within your grasp the door to a new adventure, a secret shared, learning unraveled. There will be many Blogs and articles and snippets of information - all online - all concise. Digested as fast as fast food. But once in awhile, you crave a more filling meal - a buffet, scrumptious and meant to be savored! Every morsel, every serving, filled with flavor. Slowly, ever so slowly partaken until you have satisfied your hunger for the written word.

Go now! My blog and all other snippets online can wait, pick up a book, any book and savor the meal!
